Description
The "maze of Medicare" can be confusing even to those who have worked in Hospice for years—and even more overwhelming to new clinicians learning the Medicare Hospice Benefit. This two-day boot camp provides myth-busting clarity, tools, and CMS-based regulatory guidance on eligibility/LCDs, documentation, HOPE, survey readiness, and hospice quality programs.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the fundamental principles of the Medicare Hospice Benefit (MBPM Chapter 9) and how they guide hospice care delivery.
- Identify the eligibility criteria for hospice, including terminal prognosis and LCD guidance.
- Interpret and apply key Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoPs) and Conditions for Payment specific to hospice.
- Evaluate the purpose and structure of the HOPE data set and its role in quality reporting and compliance.
- Develop strategies to maintain compliance during surveys, ADRs, and medical review.
